New York Knicks: 5 players for RJ Barrett to study during suspended play
With the 2019-20 NBA regular season in a state of uncertainty, New York Knicks guard RJ Barrett should take this time to study players whom he can pattern his game after.
When the New York Knicks selected RJ Barrett at No. 3 overall in the 2019 NBA Draft, a mountain of expectations arrived with him. A vaunted high school report who co-starred for the Duke Blue Devils as a freshman, Barrett was no stranger to the pressure.
Unfortunately, Barrett’s promising rookie season was cut short when the NBA pressed pause on its daily operations—and thus, a new opportunity was created.
After struggling early, Barrett began to look the part of a star during the second half of the season. That was no more clear than after the All-Star Break, when he averaged 17.2 points per game and 20.5 points per 36 minutes on 45.2 percent shooting from the field.
As such, one can’t help but wonder how much further he could take this breakthrough before the season was unceremoniously placed on hold.
With the world now isolated due to COVID-19, the Knicks can no longer take the court as a unit. Health permitting, however, Barrett can still do something to improve his future: Study the stars of yesteryear to learn new tricks of the trade.
The question is: Who in specific should RJ Barrett be taking time out to study as he prepares for the next chapter of his New York Knicks career?
