Before we go any further into this article I want to make one thing clear, this is based solely off of speculation. Karl-Anthony Towns hasn’t requested a trade from Minnesota, he hasn’t made any comments about MSG being his favorite arena, but one thing is for sure and it’s that the Timberwolves are not a good team.

The Timberwolves started the season 10-8 and in the hunt for the playoffs. Since then the T-Wolves have gone a putrid 5-24, and are now on a 10 game losing streak. Karl-Anthony Towns can’t be happy with the losing and last night in particular stung for Minnesota.

According to ESPN Stats and Info, since 1996-97, the first year of play-by-play data, NBA teams are 8,378-0 when leading by 17 or more in the last three minutes of the 4th quarter or overtime. You can now make that 8,378-1 thanks to head coach Ryan Sanders and his squad. In the last 2 minutes and 30 seconds of the 4th quarter De’Aaron Fox and Buddy Hield combined for 19 points in a 21-4 run to send the game to OT. Their the Sacramento Kings would defeat the Timberwolves 133-129. The Kings outscored the Timberwolves 55-33 in the 4th and OT.

Karl-Anthony Towns was noticeable unhappy at the end of the 4th quarter after Andrew Wiggins took a contested three, wasting an opportunity to win the game. On the in-bound pass Towns was open at the top right behind the three-point line, but the play looked drawn up for Wiggins and that is where the ball went. Karl-Anthony Towns was the first player out of the arena for the Timberwolves.

While Karl-Anthony Towns hasn’t requested a trade, it certainly looks like it could be a possibility in the near future. Despite all the loses, Karl-Anthony Towns is have a career year.

KAT is scoring a career high 26.9 points per game this season while shooting 41% from deep, proving his spot among the best centers in the league. The former Kentucky Wildcat is also averaging 10.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists a game.

Even if Karl-Anthony Towns does become available, the asking price will be enormous. The Knicks would have to include several picks, most likely including this years, Kevin Knox, Dennis Smith Jr. and Marcus Morris just to begin.
