The New York Knicks will travel to face the Washington Wizards. A look at the odds and injuries for this game.

Well, it’s here. The New York Knicks are playing their final game of the 2010s, which have been as night and day as possible, starting with Amar’e Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony’s respective arrivals in 2010 and 2011, respectively. It ends with the team’s second 17-65 season and yet another coaching change.

Closing the year is a familiar opponent to the Knicks; one who they have struggled mightily against throughout this decade: the Washington Wizards.

The Wizards were depleted in their most recent matchup with the Knicks. Everyone from Rui Hachimura to Isaiah Thomas and Thomas Bryant was out. It was basically Bradley Beal and a group of young players and G League talent. Yet, they led New York by double digits in the fourth quarter, eventually winning the game by six points.

Now, Washington may not even have Beal available due to a leg injury, or at least have him in a limited capacity. That should be a late Christmas present for the Knicks, who are eyeing a winning streak after defeating the Nets on Thursday, but that’s no guarantee after the recent debacle.

The Knicks will be without players, too. Wayne Ellington (sore left Achilles) and Mitchell Robinson (sprained left great toe) are both questionable to play. Reggie Bullock (cervical disc herniation) and Dennis Smith Jr. (strained left oblique) are both out. Smith Jr. has been the subject of trade reports these past few days.

The Knicks are only minor favorites over the Wizards. Despite the latter’s limited talent group, it should not be a surprise, given the way their last matchup resulted. Interim coach Mike Miller’s group did shut down the Nets to below 30 percent shooting, though, so perhaps that defensive work carries into this final matchup of 2019.
