The New York Knicks will take a swing at a two-game winning streak on Friday, Dec. 13 against the Sacramento Kings. A look at the odds and injuries for this matchup.

It’s the dreaded Friday the 13th, and the New York Knicks will try for their first winning streak of the season nearly two months in. Yes, it’s taken that long, but with five wins spread across 25 games, odd instances like that will happen.

Achieving this takes defeating the Sacramento Kings on the road. Coach Luke Walton‘s team is riding a three-game winning streak of their own, playing superior basketball to how they started the year in October. They are just 11-13, but steadily on the rise in the Western Conference.

The Knicks could return Dennis Smith Jr. against the Kings. The third-year point guard missed Wednesday’s win against the Golden State Warriors with an illness. He’s sliding in the point guard rotation, however, with Elfrid Payton‘s recent production upon return. Otherwise, New York will line up the same group of players as they have all season long.

It’s still yet to be determined what kind of consistency the Knicks develop under interim coach Mike Miller. Ball movement has increased, but they were still blown out by the Portland Trail Blazers just 72 hours ago. The resolutions to finding wins are probably not on this roster, but discovering a silver lining or two for the future is not the worst-case scenario.

As usual, the Knicks are the underdogs, which is not a surprise. This team will not be favored to win anything until an eventual rematch with the Warriors later this season. Plus, the Kings are riding their own winning streak.
