The New York Knicks will play their first game under a new head coach. A look at the odds and injuries, along with how to watch this matchup against the Indiana Pacers online.

Hey, there is a basketball game to play on Saturday night and the New York Knicks are involved. Did you forget that? You may have after the past 24 hours of events.

The Knicks fired their head coach, David Fizdale, on Friday. Mike Miller became the interim head coach hours later. Preceding these events, Fizdale held a practice and spoke to the media. All seemed okay, at least for that day, until the mid-afternoon report of the 45-year-old’s firing after just 104 games.

Fizdale was prepping for Saturday’s game against the Indiana Pacers, with a turnaround in mind after blowout losses to the Milwaukee Bucks and the Denver Nuggets. Images even floated around of the now-former coach joking around with the front office at the practice facility.

The aftermath was the NBA’s top coaches siding with Fizdale and mocking the Knicks, from San Antonio’s Gregg Popovich to Golden State’s Steve Kerr. Even though this decision was expected, the league still had their fun with this turbulent group, and who could blame them?

60 games remain, and the Knicks have a new coach. No matter what signs are shown in another difficult Eastern Conference matchup, it doesn’t really matter. This season is a wash, the roster is a mess, most of the players are on short-term contracts and a new coach will arrive by next spring. Players may still show effort since they have an NBA future to seek out. Otherwise, the expectations will remain the same: more losing.

Knicks odds against Pacers

Moneyline: -250 Pacers/+210 Knicks

Per usual, the Knicks are underdogs and will remain this way indefinitely. No coaching change will alter that. However, it’s a surprise the Moneyline isn’t higher than -250 for Indiana, given New York’s consecutive losses of at least 35 points.
