After a rough night against the San Antonio Spurs, the New York Knicks rebounded with a closer effort vs the Brooklyn Nets.

A 103-101 loss to the Brooklyn Nets provided the New York Knicks their third consecutive defeat, dropping to 4-13. It was a superior effort to Saturday’s disappointment against the San Antonio Spurs, but coach David Fizdale’s squad was unable to capitalize in the final moments.

The Knicks came back and fought hard, but, of course, they didn’t win. It’s all in how you start the game. They should have played as they did in the fourth from the beginning of the game. The lazy, slow-moving playing in the first half was unacceptable. The Knicks only outscored the Nets in the fourth quarter.

Here are the grades for the players:

C. . PG. New York Knicks. FRANK NTILIKINA

In a game that was lost by only two points, the offense for this team has to pick up greatly. The Frenchman had eight points on 3-for-11 shooting and one three-point make. He added three rebounds, five assists and three personal fouls.

New York Knicks. JULIUS RANDLE. D. . PF

Julius Randle played 31 minutes had 15 points, which was unacceptable. He went 6-for-10 from the field and made one from the outside. Eight rebounds, four assists, two turnovers, and two personal fouls were added.

To lead this team you must lead by example. It’s time for Randle to figure out if he’s that player.

D-. . SG. New York Knicks. KEVIN KNOX II

Without RJ Barrett due to an illness, Kevin Knox stepped in as the shooting guard on Sunday night., playing 17 minutes. He accumulated five points, three rebounds, three assists, one steal, one block, and four personal fouls.

B. . SF. New York Knicks. MARCUS MORRIS, SR.

Marcus Morris, Sr. had another good game with 26 points on 9 of 17 shooting and 7 of 8 on three-pointers. As a leader of this team, Morris has to know and show that three turnovers and personal fouls are not good for the team.

. Point Guard. New York Knicks. DENNIS SMITH, JR.. C

Dennis Smith, Jr. came out aggressive in 20 minutes, contributing 10 points on 4 of 11 shooting and two three-pointers. He also added two rebounds, five assists, and one steal. The third-year man slowly getting back into his rhythm which can mean nothing but great things for the Knicks.

Other Takeaways

  • Mitchell Robinson fouled out of the game and on his way to the bench, received a technical.
  • The Knicks had 16 turnovers.
  • The Knicks had 29 personal fouls. The Nets made 27 of their 34 free throws. I wonder if they can add.
