Closing Remarks

In the end, it seems the key to the New York Knicks playing winning basketball next year is simple: they must progress shooting the ball, progress passing the ball, and progress playing defense because those aspects of the game hurt them from the start in 2018-19.

This team has plenty of players who can score the basketball, sure, but there are not nearly enough that can shoot from distance efficiently, that can play defense at an above-average level, and that can be effective on low usage altogether, which is where the NBA is headed.

However, if the Knicks want to win, stats cannot matter to this team. The majority of these players will see drops in their stats from last season due to the depth of this team, and if they’re not ready for that, they are not ready to win.

If the new-look Knicks do bring selfless basketball back to New York, expect this team to blow their expectations out of the water, especially since they lack stars. They only won only 17 games last year, and the fact that the Knicks will forever be underdogs until they prove the media/public wrong and win consistently.

So, hopefully, this Knicks roster isn’t too worried about what their stats are next year, because if they are, everything will go downhill fast. They need to keep humble, play hard on defense, work on their jumpers, not worry about their stats, play team ball, and just make the right plays when presented with them.
