1. High upside

For the New York Knicks fans who want to see the kids run, they have more than just one lineup that fits this. A young batch of players offers an exciting look at the future, and if they all play together for a significant run, perhaps Fizdale uses high-upside groups like this more often:

  • Dennis Smith Jr. – Still just 21 years old, Smith has room to grow as the potential point guard of the future.
  • RJ Barrett – Arguably the highest upside of New York’s youngsters, Barrett will have every chance to play. Working alongside other players below age 22 will showcase inexperience, but finding chemistry with the team’s future is important, too.
  • Frank Ntilikina – Ntilikina’s spot is interchangeable with Trier or Ignas Brazdeikis. The Knicks need a longer look at the Frenchman, who can help set up his point-hungry teammates as an alternate distributor and become the glue of a group that either leans too much offensively or too much defensively.
  • Kevin Knox – Despite first-year struggles, Knox’s upside remains high. He is a focal point of this roster’s youth and can take plenty of shots in this lineup.
  • Mitchell Robinson – There is no high-upside lineup without Robinson, who shined after landing in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft. His interior defense anchors this lineup.
