While the Charlotte Hornets are low in the draft lottery and just outside the playoffs, they are potentially heading towards a lengthy rebuild. It hinges on Kemba Walker‘s decision this summer, as he can become a free agent and join the New York Knicks.

This NBA draft class’s top point guards are off the board, though. That leaves other position to fill in hope of Walker’s return on a long-term deal. Luckily for Charlotte, they can select someone who once had hype just below Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett.

Cam Reddish’s spotlight faded after a rough freshman season at Duke. From the miserable shooting numbers to curiously missing an NCAA Tournament game, his time in college did not pan out, and it hurt a stock that was once in the top three.

The talent is still apparent in Reddish’s game, at least physically. His 6-foot-9 frame is typical of a wing, with quality athleticism and a seven-foot wingspan to accompany it. If not for the questionable shot selection playing off two of college basketball’s stars, this would be a guaranteed top-five pick.

If Reddish shows his time at Duke was disappointing due to playing an uncomfortable role next to two player of the year candidates, this is potentially a steal for the talent-needy Hornets.
