No. 1: 14.0 percent

The dream scenario for the New York Knicks and their fans, the No. 1 pick seems so close, yet so far away. With 14 percent odds, it is the highest chance to select Duke’s Zion Williamson, but like the previous three picks, the Cavaliers and Suns have just as great of a chance here.

Winning the lottery could provide New York its first draft win in 34 years. It’s a long time coming for a franchise that has encountered hardships, self-imposed or not, with the chance to revitalize Manhattan basketball by selecting the most polarizing and intriguing player of this class.

But the odds at Williamson are not high. It is a long shot if anything. The same applies to the other 13 teams, but for a Knicks team craving some sign of hope, they need this to fall into their laps.

However, even if New York wins the lottery, keeping this pick is no foregone conclusion, especially if they want Anthony Davis. Moving it as the headlining piece — if Mitchell Robinson is not part of a trade — is probably the no-brainer for New Orleans to take back. It would be the most appealing piece for Mills and Perry to offer. The question is will they find the willingness to do so?

Williamson with the Knicks could become a reality Tuesday night. There are just mountain-sized odds to overcome, unlike the Suns in 2018 with Deandre Ayton and the 2016 Sixers with Ben Simmons. Will this be a successful night for the blue and orange?
