Of all the top players at each position, Zion Williamson is the most difficult to pinpoint. Of course, he’s not a guard, but that leaves the three frontcourt spots. Either forward spot technically works, and that 285-pound frame is more than some NBA centers who are three-plus inches taller.

That only gives Williamson versatility at the next level, since his body type and athleticism are as unique as anyone’s in basketball over the past 25 years.

For now, Williamson fits as a power forward, given his skills at working inside the arc and occasionally stepping out for a three-pointer.

Williamson is this class’s top player, and he will inevitably become the first overall pick of the 2019 NBA Draft. Who selects him will come to fruition in May’s lottery show, which the New York Knicks own 14 percent odds in.

Williamson is a game-changing talent for any franchise that lands him. Sure, he has yet to play an NBA game, but the attraction is strong for what he might do over the next 10-to-15 years, due to that aforementioned body type, the highlight-reel plays and however else he may improve.

It’s too early to call the 18-year-old phenom the next LeBron James, but the hype feels similar. Playing actual games will determine this, and Williamson’s game could trend towards Blake Griffin than LeBron, which is not a negative, but might letdown those who think he’s destined for top-10-of-all-time greatness.

Williamson can handle the frontcourt, but no matter where specifically a team slots him, the upside to become a star is high and exciting.
