The Boston Celtics have one last first-round pick. As noted, with their roster’s future in doubt as Anthony Davis lingers on the trade market, some of these draft selections might not stick past June.

However, the Celtics might need to retool their point guard situation. Kyrie Irving can hit free agency this summer, and Terry Rozier will become a restricted free agent. Of course, both could return to Boston, but Rozier previously proved himself as a capable starter and can seek employment elsewhere. Will Irving do the same, even after his departure from Cleveland in 2017?

Point guard depth beyond Ja Morant and Darius Garland is not strong in this draft, but there are options as the first round closes. Kentucky’s Ashton Hagans is one of them, with the upside to become a capable ball-handler in the NBA.

Hagans’ 4.4 assists serve him well as the Wildcats’ point guard. Defensively, his 1.7 steals are representative of a solid 6-foot-7 wingspan. which lets him play bigger than his 6-foot-3 frame.

Scoring ability comes into question, particularly as a three-point shooter. He attempted just 1.3 outside shots and made 28.3 percent of them. It’s not an appealing set of numbers and a concern for his development since he’s already not elite in any area.

The New York Knicks could use point guard depth. If Hagans falls into the second round, does he fit into the equation?
