Romeo Langford was once in the same group as Zion Williamson, Ja Morant and RJ Barrett. He walked into Indiana with the necessary hype to become a top-five player. Maybe that continues into the draft process, but the season total did not represent that.
Shooting just 44.8 percent and 27.2 percent on three-pointers, Langford left much to be desired. He was the Hoosiers’ leading man and had a 26.2 usage percentage as a freshman, but he had just six games of shooting percentages above 40 percent from Jan. 14 to March 14, concerning his efficiency.
Like Reddish, maybe that’s just a product of Langford’s role. He won’t hold the main role on any NBA team, especially the Minnesota Timberwolves at No. 11. Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins are still there, and enough depth sits that needs their share of the ball.
So this potential one-off season at Indiana may not indicate how Langford will play at the next level. He just needs a better shot selection and development as an outside player.
If this was five months ago, Langford would be in play for the New York Knicks. That’s not the case, of course, in this scenario, with the first overall pick also up for grabs.
