2. Rui Hachimura, Gonzaga

Among the top prospects of the 2019 NBA Draft, Rui Hachimura shined on the biggest stage. Settling around his 20-point, six-rebound statistical averages, he had 21 points, eight rebounds and added a block against Fairleigh Dickinson in the opening round.
It was not just Hachimura, either. Brandon Clarke, who has a chance in the 2019 NBA Draft, had 12 points and eight rebounds and is a standout defender. Zach Norvell Jr. even added 13 points, six rebounds and seven assists.
Hachimura projects as a high lottery pick. His 6-foot-8 frame and ability to dominate inside makes him an intriguing forward prospect — someone who flashed potential for years at Gonzaga and fulfilled it with an extended opportunity in 2018-19.
How far Hachimura goes depends on his outside shooting. He did not take a three-pointer in the opening round and only attempted one per game in the regular season. Improving on that is necessary, since most NBA players who don’t play center stretch the floor in the modern-day game.
The junior forward should land high enough to remain in consideration for the New York Knicks, whether it’s in the top four or within the first six picks. He’s a fascinating prospect but needs more time to develop.
