The third of Duke’s stars from the ACC, Cameron Reddish also entered the college season as the nation’s third-best prospect. He’d be highlighted greater on almost any other team, but with Zion Williamson leading the way, this 6-foot-9 wing is somewhat hidden in the background.
With a seven-foot wingspan and standout size, Reddish is an excellent defender and grouped with Hunter and Little in this regard, but this Blue Devil has the star potential these other two potentially do not possess.
Reddish’s offensive numbers do not indicate that, but his role might create the inefficiencies from the field, since he takes nearly eight three-pointers per game and makes just 2.6 of them. That’s with just 4.9 two-pointers per game. It’s difficult to see that translating at the next level, unless he shoots like Stephen Curry or Klay Thompson.
If it’s only due to Reddish’s role as the 1C to Williamson and RJ Barrett’s 1A and 1B, respectively, he’ll take off in the NBA. That’s the only thing holding them back.
Reddish is a potential top-five pick and should be in play for the New York Knicks, pending they have interest in the 20-year-old freshman. He’s the athletic two-way player this roster desperately needs. Picture this kind of talent next to Kevin Durant and Mitchell Robinson, and it creates excitement for fans.
