Rising as a potential top-10 prospects in the 2019 NBA Draft, Jarrett Culver is an intriguing option at shooting guard. He’s 6-foot-6, athletic, owns a wingspan around 7-foot and can handle the ball with 3.5 assists per game.

Culver rose in his sophomore year at Texas Tech, after Zhaire Smith bolted to the NBA. That caused a statistical rise across the board, increasing his stock to become a near lock in the lottery.

On the downside, Culver’s numbers from behind the arc have dipped. He shoots just 33.6 percent, but that’s as his attempts from all over the field jumped from Year One to Year Two. 68.5 percent free throw shooting raises a question mark, too, although it’s currently an improvement from 64.8 percent in 2017-18.

Still, there is much to like about Culver’s potential as a two-way player that finds his way as a third or fourth option on a team’s offense. Maybe more if he becomes a consistent shooter.

As with Langford, the New York Knicks could use shooting guard depth. Culver, of course, makes sense to target to play off the ball and handle it at times, but with shooting concerns from all three point guards on the roster, the fit may not be perfect. A knockdown perimeter player is needed, so that could rule out both off-ball guards if the Knicks land low enough in the lottery.
