The identified “third guy” at Duke, Cameron Reddish is still as talented as anyone outside the top two or three picks in June’s NBA Draft. While the slash line leaves much to be desired, it’s as a role player in an offense centered on Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett.

Reddish mostly takes outside shots, which compiles more than half his attempts per game. He spreads the floor for Williamson and Barrett, who do it all for the Blue Devils.

Aside from that, the former top recruit is a long 6-foot-8 that profiles as a wing. On the New York Knicks, he can shuffle through multiple lineup spots because of this physical profile. That’s even as a taller shooting guard. It’s not his higher-profile teammates, but enough to provide some anticipation at Madison Square Garden for years to come.

Reddish will still become a top 10 pick, it’s just a matter of how much his 2018-19 stats impact where he lands. For now, he should stick around the top five, which is where the Knicks will pick no matter how this season finishes.

A strong run without the injured Williamson could boost Reddish’s stock to the top three, where he was before the season started. If it doesn’t fulfill that, teams can at least have greater assurance of what he’ll bring to the court.
