Knicks Trade Rumors: Designing ideal Noah Vonleh deal with Sixers

Not only a first-round pick moves to the New York Knicks, but another selection as a sweetener, potentially if there are multiple teams interested in the former Charlotte Hornets draft pick of 2014.

A second-round pick can put this trade over the top for Philadelphia. Moving a first-rounder is expensive enough, but to ensure it happens, throwing a future selection may tempt the Knicks, depending what their asking price is on their young big man.

The Sixers have second-round picks to move past 2019. They own the more favorable selection of the Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets in 2020, while the Hornets receive the less favorable. New York can take that or the Dallas Mavericks’ second-round pick, both of which have the chance to convey between 30-to-45.

The Knicks have found second-round success before, including in 2018. Using a pick acquired in the Carmelo Anthony trade, Mitchell Robinson went to them at No. 36 overall, or the sixth selection of Round 2. Despite injuries, he looks like their future at center.

In 2017, Damyean Dotson went 44th overall. He’s shown enough to stick as an NBA role player these past 18 months.

Traveling back to 2010, the Knicks selected Landry Fields at No. 39 overall. His career abruptly ended after a poor stint with the Toronto Raptors, but, for a time, he was a standout role player on the Amar’e Stoudemire-Carmelo Anthony teams.

So a second-rounder is not valueless in a potential trade, and the Knicks can strike, again. The G-League’s rise gives these players an opportunity to develop, and if the front office acquires this pick with a first-rounder, it can work wonders down the road.
