New York Knicks: 2019 NBA Draft prospects who make losing tolerable
4. Rui Hachimura
Perhaps the second-most fascinating prospect of the 2019 NBA Draft, Rui Hachimura possesses raw skill that’s steadily translating into awe-inspiring talent, despite minimal, overall basketball experience.
Five years ago, questions would surround Hachimura’s NBA future, mostly due to not owning a position. He’s not tall enough to play center, not a prototypical power forward and does not shoot like a bonafide wing.
Today, the Japanese sensation can play center, line up at power forward and keep up with fellow athletic forwards at the wing. It makes him a versatile prospect, and as a developing offensive piece, teams can gamble on his potential to score from all areas.
Hachimura might not arrive to the NBA ready to overrun it, but with improvements in each season at Gonzaga, he should make an impact upon arrival.
Similar to Reddish, Fizdale can use Hachimura in a variety of lineups, playing next to Porzingis and Mitchell Robinson in the frontcourt. A lineup of Robinson, Porzingis, Kevin Knox and Hachimura becomes realistic, as well.
Hachimura will become a lottery pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, barring a sudden turn of events. If the Knicks land in the top five, he should be there for them and act as a worthy investment.
