With the new year quickly approaching, New York Knicks fans have plenty to hope for in 2019 in the hopes of returning to relevance.

The beginning of the new year can be a beautiful time filled with potential. People use it as somewhat of a reset button, setting up future goals they wish to achieve in the hope of creating a better life for themselves.

Despite their surprisingly competitive play, it seems as though the New York Knicks playoff drought will extend to six seasons. However, there are reasons for both the team and its fans to be optimistic about the future.

Both the front office and coaching staff have done a terrific job of changing the culture within Madison Square Garden. Youngsters such as Kevin Knox and Allonzo Trier have shown immense talent levels, and while losing is never fun, it’s putting the team in position to land a top pick in the upcoming 2019 Draft.

However, there is still much to be done in order to brighten the future in the Big Apple, some the Knicks can make sure they take care of and others only the basketball gods can determine. Either way, all would help in creating a more competitive team in the heart of New York City.
