3. Robin Lopez, Jerian Grant and Jose Calderon traded to Bulls

One year after the New York Knicks acquired Robin Lopez and Jerian Grant, and two years after Jose Calderon joined the team, they were sent to the Chicago Bulls for Derrick Rose, Justin Holiday and a 2017 second-round pick that became Damyean Dotson.

Rose, the biggest name of this deal, struggled to find his MVP form after years of injuries. In New York, he shot 47.1 percent from the field, but still missed another 18 games and was inconsistent.

The three-time All-Star spent just one season with the Knicks, before bouncing between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Minnesota Timberwolves in 2017-18.

Holiday played well as a role player, shooting 35.5 percent on three-pointers and providing quality defense. However, he returned to Chicago in July 2017, signing a two-year deal.

The real prize, though, was Dotson. He only received occasional playing time in Year One, but has broken through under a new head coach in New York; that’s with 46.4 percent shooting and 37.2 on three-pointers for 11.1 points.

Lopez, because of his four-year deal with the Knicks, remains with the Bulls. He’s only a backup, rather than a starter, due to Lauri Markkanen and Wendell Carter Jr.’s presences.

Grant spent two years in Chicago and actually started 54 games, garnering the opportunity on a rebuilding team. Little was done with it, as he averaged just 7.2 points and 3.4 assists.

Calderon never played in the Windy City. The Los Angeles Lakers acquired him via trade just two weeks later.

This deal was somewhat of a wash, but Dotson has developed into a quality player for the Knicks. That at least made this deal worthwhile, given the short-term stay of Rose and Holiday.
