The New York Knicks overcame the Charlotte Hornets on Friday night, 126-124. Who stepped up in this overtime matchup?

After five consecutive losses, the New York Knicks fought back for a win against the Charlotte Hornets, 126-124. They moved to 9-21, which still sits in the bottom five of the NBA, but puts them one victory away from reaching double-digits after two months.

The Knicks had to overcome a 21-point deficit, much like their game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, though resulting in a loss.

Throughout the game, players stepped up for New York, including one rookie and another that has found a renaissance year. Who else contributed in this win?

That, and more, from Friday’s overtime win on the road:

Honorable Mention: Luke Kornet

Stat Line: 13 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals, 3 blocks, 4-for-8 shooting, 3-for-5 on three-pointers

Luke Kornet‘s night was arguably his best with the Knicks. The timing was proper, as well, after the team waived Ron Baker instead of him, due to Allonzo Trier‘s two-year contract. This should at least keep the second-year man in the rotation while players rehab injuries.

Noah Vonleh

Stat Line: 15 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 block, 5-for-13 shooting, 2-for-8 on three-pointers

Noah Vonleh, after a few quiet outings, returned with an effort that may go unnoticed compared to what other New York Knicks did, delivering 15 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists to flirt with a double-double.

The rebounding total was New York’s top mark of the night, ahead of Enes Kanter‘s eight.

Vonleh’s shooting night was not efficient, at 5-for-13, but six of those misses were from behind the arc, so he still delivered around the rim. He played aggressively on the boards, too, making this a productive night for the fourth-year man.

Saturday, however, marks the first day that Vonleh can enter a trade. Since the Knicks signed him in the offseason, they had to wait until Dec. 15 to make a transaction with him.

Whether anything happens remains to be seen, as no reports have linked Vonleh to a potential trade. Of course, as seen with the three-way deal for Trevor Ariza, something can happen instantly, especially since he also signed with a team in the offseason.

Vonleh will hit free agency this summer, and with his performance this season, it’s likely his value increased from a partially-guaranteed deal for $1.6 million. Games like Friday’s only help that.
