Stat Line: 22 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, 6-for-16 shooting, 3-for-7 on three-pointers, 7-for-7 on free throws

Friday’s game against the Pelicans was Tim Hardaway Jr.’s worst of the season. Seven points on 2-for-15 won’t get it done, especially for the New York Knicks’ best player. However, it still resulted in a win.

Hardaway rebounded in Memphis, however. Not the most efficient game, as the Grizzlies defense made his 38 minutes difficult, but he finished with 22 points and a trio of three-pointers to lead the team in scoring. A perfect 7-for-7 on free throws was critical, too.

At this point, don’t look for Hardaway’s shooting numbers to reach high percentages. Even though he occasionally settles for long-range jumpshots over drives to the hoop, the Knicks still need his high volume of attempts; his 16 tied Kanter for the team-high.

Hardaway has only shot above 43 percent seven times this season. No game has fallen below 10 attempts, either, and 16 of them topped 15 shots.

This usually gives Hardaway 20-plus points. In turn, it often leads New York on the box score. An additional scoring presence wouldn’t enforce this need for baskets, but until Kristaps Porzngis returns, it will remain the same.

Hardaway as a trio of interesting matchups ahead, including the Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks. Both teams may provide trouble, so will he overcome a potential headache and break out of this mini-slump?
