Trey Burke

Stat Line: 29 points, 6 rebounds, 11 assists, 2 steals, 11-for-20 shooting, 4-for-6 on three-pointers

Trey Burke, once again, was the star of the show for the New York Knicks. This time, he showcased his best game of 2018-19, with 29 points, six rebounds, 11 assists and two steals. An unbelievable showing for a player that couldn’t recently find any on-court minutes.

Shots from across the court were on-point for Burke. He hit over 50 percent of his attempts and 4-for-6 from behind the arc, with the Boston backcourt unable to contain him.

To seal the deal, Burke hit the clutch three-pointer to secure the win in the final 30 seconds — one of the first times New York successfully closed a game in crunch time this season.

This wasn’t Burke’s first show-out game, either, but his fourth consecutive. The numbers may be an anomaly, but he’s red-hot for the Knicks:

  • Nov. 16 vs. Pelicans: 24 points on 10-for-13 shooting
  • Nov. 18 vs. Magic: 31 points on 11-for-20 shooting
  • Nov. 21 vs. Trail Blazers: 19 points on 8-for-15 shooting

This was the first night Burke’s production in this torrid streak took off from behind the arc, as he totaled five three-pointers in those three games.

Can Burke do this again? The Knicks rematch with the Pelicans next and the defensive-minded Memphis Grizzlies afterward. A difficult stretch, but an intriguing test for someone who worked out of Fizdale’s rotation crunch. It’s his opportunity to shine.
