Still atop the player power rankings, Tim Hardaway Jr. delivered another quality week for the New York Knicks. His 22.7 points and 1.3 three-pointers made per game led the way, despite a 17.4 percent mark from behind the arc.
Hardaway posted 34 points on 8-for-22 shooting and 16 made free throws against the Hawks. It was in spite of 2-for-11 on three-pointers.
He followed with a more efficient game against the Raptors, however, at 11-for-17 for 27 points. It offset the poor showing versus Orlando, which was an off night for almost every player on the Knicks.
However, there’s no doubt Hardaway is New York’s leading man. He and Kanter are its only stable offensive forces while a roster, loaded with young players, tries to find consistency, including Knox, Robinson, Trier and Frank Ntilikina.
Hardaway has difficult matchups against the Oklahoma City Thunder and the New Orleans Pelicans ahead, both of whom present elite offensive weapons to counter, with Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook (if healthy) and Paul George. So the Knicks will need all the scoring they can get from their main scorer without Kristaps Porzingis.
