6. Quentin Grimes, Kansas

Position: Shooting guard
Height: 6-foot-5
Weight: 210 pounds
Opening night: 21 points, 1 rebound, 4 assists, 1 steal, 7-for-14 shooting

While Duke and Kentucky received the spotlight in the second Showcase game, Kansas had their own impressive performance, led by Quentin Grimes.

At 6-foot-5, Grimes is a combo guard with the athleticism and movement to finish around the basket. He also owns a good jump shot that looked great against Michigan State, with a 6-for-10 mark from behind the arc, making up all but one of his made field goals.

If Grimes finds consistent shooting, at his size and ability as a passer, he will find a way into not just the lottery, but the top 10. Add in the potential to defend the perimter effectively, and he has the chance to become a solid player for the New York Knicks or another team in the lottery.

5. Romeo Langford, Indiana

Position: Shooting guard
Height: 6-foot-6
Weight: 215 pounds
Opening night: 19 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, 7-for-12 shooting

Romeo Langford kicks off a top five that arguably stands above the rest. His debut for Indiana, shooting 58.3 percent, was a highlight from college basketball’s opening night. Along with 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal, he filled the stat sheet, despite missing all of his three-point attempts.

The made attempts from behind the arc should return as the season continues, as he offers a mix of moves to find baskets. Free throws were one of his concerns entering 2018-19, however, and he went just 5-for-11.

That, and ball handling, are Langford’s points of emphasis in his freshman season, according to NBADraft.net. If he flashes improvement, it will solidify himself as a top-five pick, potentially within the New York Knicks’ range.
