2. Kevin Knox

Robinson was not the only rookie to flash upside. Kevin Knox, the New York Knicks’ first-round pick in June, delivered a quality performance at both ends of the floor, including activity under the boards.

Knox finished the game with 13 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and two steals as a member of the starting lineup. This line did nothing to dampen his chances at a spot in the top five, even if Mario Hezonja, who had five turnovers in limited time, starts Wednesday.

The Kentucky product often looked for his shot in the corner and made two of them, while still in attack mode to find opportunities in the paint. His athleticism and 6-foot-9 frame should allow this to stay consistent, as well as Fizdale’s desire for the offense to push down the court.

It’s still early, and the preseason lineup will likely change by the game. That doesn’t mean Knox comes off the bench against the Brooklyn Nets, but look for others to receive an opportunity in this test period.

So far, so good for Knox, who did enough to start another preseason game. There’s a role for him in the rotation for the rebuilding Knicks, either way, and that may develop itself over the next 10 days of basketball.
