2. Noah Vonleh

Amidst the training camp practices, Noah Vonleh’s name was sporadically mentioned, while the focus went on the starting lineup, Ntilikina and Porzingis’ injury recovery.

Vonleh was one of the few offseason moves the New York Knicks made, but it’s only on a partially guaranteed salary. So it’s a minimal organizational risk, that may work if the Knicks tap into what made the Indiana product a top 10 pick in 2014.

However, it’s the opposite for Vonleh, who’s unguaranteed contract puts him near the top of the list of potential preseason cuts.

This will potentially become the 23 year old’s last chance to make an impression, due to failed stints with the Charlotte Hornets, Portland Trail Blazers and Chicago Bulls. He never found consistent offensive production and topped out as a part-time starter and role player at each stop.

With the Knicks, Vonleh won’t start, even while Porzingis misses time, with Lance Thomas, Kevin Knox and Mario Hezonja ahead in the forward rotation. So it any preseason action, it’s a potential make-or-break opportunity in the NBA.

Vonleh’s chance arrives with five preseason games, and the opener should display what the coaching staff sees in him. If a chunk of playing time results, and he performs well, will there be a spot on the opening night roster?
