Emmanuel Mudiay

2K18 Rating: 74
2K19 Predicted Rating: 74

The New York Knicks are looking at a point guard competition to see who will become the starter at the beginning of the season. Out of the three point guards on the roster, Emmanuel Mudiay has been the most expressive about his new coaching staff, as noted by Al Iannazzone of Newsday:

"“I’m just trying to pick up on some of the stuff that he’s teaching,” he said. “I’m considered one of the young guys as well, so just coming out here trying to learn as much as I can and just show that I’m really invested. I want to learn as much as I can.”"

Mudiay still needs to prove that he can improve his game. He has all the physical tools (6’5″ 200 pounds) to be a starting point guard in today’s NBA, but he’s struggled in the first few seasons of his career.

With that being said, Mudiay is still only 22, and I believe his overall is an appropriate testament to who he is. He has the potential to raise it, but for now, he’ll be stuck at a 74 overall rating.

Frank Ntilikina

2K18 Rating: 73
2K19 Predicted Rating: 74

The other point guard looking to get a start for the Knicks is 2017 first-round pick Frank Ntilikina. His first season in the NBA had its ups-and-downs, as is expected of most project players arriving from overseas.

For its ups, Ntilikina was able to display some elite signs on defense that showcased his NBA All-Defensive team potential. It was his offense that needed the work and was the main source of his weaknesses.

But Ntilikina is still only 19 years old and still seems to be growing (reportedly 6’6″ after being listed as 6’5″ during the 2017 NBA Draft).

Along with his reported growth, Ntilikina seems to be getting stronger and improving his handle, as noted during his performances at Summer League.

Ntilikina still has a lot to prove if he wants to increase his 2K rating and overall production, but it seemed necessary to increase his overall rating from last year.
