NBA 2K19 will be released in September. How were the New York Knicks rated in 2K18 and what should their ratings be for the upcoming release?
With the release of NBA 2K19 rapidly approaching, it’s only rational to ponder how the New York Knicks will and should be rated in the upcoming release by 2K Sports.
The only possible starting point is franchise player Kristaps Porzingis.
Kristaps Porzingis
2K18 Rating: 88
2K19 Predicted Rating: 76 while injured, 87 when healthy
As most Knicks’ fans know, Kristaps Porzingis has become the face of this franchise after beating harsh expectations from fans and analysts. He’s become a unicorn to the NBA with his ability to stretch the floor, play in the post, and defend multiple positions (ranked 27th in defensive rating).
If you have ever played with the Knicks in NBA 2K, then you know Porzingis is always the guy to play through.
His mobility and fluidity at 7’3″ earned him the 88 overall rating in 2K18, which was dropped to a 74 after he tore his ACL. With the recovery process, and his struggles with conditioning and stamina, I predict that his rating will be an 87 when he comes back from the ACL surgery.
The only question is whether that’s this season or next.
Enes Kanter
2K18 Rating: 83 overall
2K19 Predicted Rating: 84 overall
It looks like we’ll be seeing Enes Kanter back in a Knicks uniform after he decided to opt-in to his player option for $18.6 million. As a fan favorite, and probably the Knicks’ best offensive option for the upcoming season next to Tim Hardaway Jr., Kanter will be an exciting player to watch.
With his smooth moves in the post, mid-range stroke, rebounding, and potential improvement beyond the arc, Kanter could be a force.
With his expansive game on the offensive end, he still serves as somewhat of a liability on the defensive end. For that reason, I felt it necessary to increase Kanter’s rating by one as he had one of his better seasons in the NBA, and only seems to be improving.
If he can somehow improve on his defense and make more of an impact on that side for the Knicks, I could see his overall rise above an 85.
