The New York Knicks played their third game at Summer League on Tuesday, July 10. Who stepped up against the Los Angeles Lakers?

The New York Knicks were thrown quite the curveball leading up to their third game at Summer League. After two games with Frank Ntilikina running the offense and leading the defense, the Knicks were forced to play a game without their primary playmaker.

It may not have ended in the way that the Knicks had hoped it would, but the clash with the Los Angeles Lakers proved to be a momentous occasion for the orange and blue.

92. 27. 109. 20. Final

New York was without Ntilikina and center Luke Kornet, who has now missed all three of its games at Summer League. That created more touches and opportunities for some of the less heralded players on the roster, however, as well as the star of the show.

What transpired was the emergence of a breakout star as a true force of nature, and a test of how the team performs without its source of direction.

The defense admittedly struggled, and few players managed to find their mark from beyond the arc. It was an invigorating showing by those who stepped up, however, as well as a riveting example of what the future could hold for New York.

The question is: Who stepped up for the New York Knicks during the 109-92 loss to the Los Angeles Lakers and what might those contributions lead to?
