Technically speaking, Mitchell Robinson isn’t under contract with the New York Knicks. He was selected in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft, and has already earned the faith of both the front office and the coaching staff.

That includes head coach David Fizdale giving Robinson the praise of being in the top one percentile of athletes in the NBA.

That’s high praise from a coach who has worked with the likes of LeBron James, Jason Richardson, Josh Smith, and Dwyane Wade.

Robinson stands around 7’0″ with a massive 7’4″ wingspan, which makes his elite athleticism even more remarkable. He isn’t a guard or a wing, but instead a center who can move like he belongs on the perimeter—all while boasting tremendous physical measurements for a big.

That certainly implies that he should be blocking a high number of shots at Summer League, as well as rim running for efficient finishes in the paint.

Fair a take as that may be, the truth is that no one truly knows what to expect from Robinson. He hasn’t played organized competitive basketball since he was in high school, and is more upside than just about anything else at this stage of his career.

Nevertheless, Robinson will be a focal point of fans and critics alike, as he’s garnered comparisons to Clint Capela and DeAndre Jordan—high praise, to say the least.
