The New York Knicks selected center Mitchell Robinson in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft. Here are five reasons to love the selection.

The New York Knicks have acquired the single most enigmatic prospect in the 2018 NBA Draft. That may sound like a bold claim, but the context of what led to Mitchell Robinson sliding to No. 36 overall makes him a polarizing figure.

As Knicks fans attempt to familiarize themselves with the former McDonald’s All-American, it’s worth noting that there are five major reasons to love the selection.

Robinson, 20, was ranked by near consensus as one of the top 10 high school recruits in the class of 2017. He had offers to play for the likes of the Kansas Jayhawks and North Carolina Tar Heels, but ultimately committed to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.

Unfortunately, Robinson never played a game for Western Kentucky, opting to forego his freshman season and prepare for the 2018 NBA Draft.

It was a bizarre turn of events that included off-court issues, but Robinson ultimately landed with an NBA team. Due to spending more than a year on the competitive sidelines, however, Robinson is a player whom few truly know about.

Though admittedly fused with a heavy dose of optimism, here are five reasons for New York Knicks fans to love the selection of Mitchell Robinson.
