The Kentucky Wildcats are known to produce stars, but the class of 2018 has left some underwhelmed. As the 2018 NBA Draft approaches, however, Kevin Knox is beginning to earn praise as one of the top 10 prospects on the board.
In terms of the prospects whom the New York Knicks will actually consider selecting, Knox is rising quickly and emerging as a top target.
Knox is a 6’9″ hybrid forward with a 7’0″ wingspan and a well-rounded skill set. He hasn’t identified a strength that he can fall back on when all else fails, but his physical tools should at least enable him to become a quality defender.
That alone makes him worth considering, as the Knicks have a desperate need for athleticism—along both the wings and the interior.
Offensively, Knox can space the floor, attack a closeout, and finish with both power and skill. He’s an above-average passer who could flirt with 5.0 assists per game at his peak, and has flashed the confidence to attack a set defense.
Knox is still somewhat underdeveloped, but as one of the youngest prospects in this class, it’s his upside that’s captivating scouts, coaches, and general managers.
