The New York Knicks have a void to fill along the wings. Who are the top five shooting guards for the Knicks to consider in the 2018 NBA Draft?

The New York Knicks signed shooting guard Courtney Lee to a four-year contract worth $48 million in 2016. New York proceeded to sign shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. to a four-year deal worth $72 million in 2017.

As the 2018 NBA Draft approaches, it appears as though the Knicks could make another significant investment in a shooting guard.

Hardaway and Lee have played well, but the Knicks are a rebuilding team that’s currently in the talent acquisition phase. That means disregarding position—to an extent, of course—in order to hone in on players who have genuine star potential.

It’s an admittedly sensible approach, as the Knicks have quality options along the perimeter, but haven’t yet identified a star who can complement Kristaps Porzingis.

In order to understand New York’s line of thinking, we must first evaluate who the options are. For the sake of being realistic, Luka Doncic—who won’t be available—and Mikal Bridges—who would be drafted as a 3—will be excluded from this list.

The question is: Who are the top five shooting guards in the 2018 NBA Draft based on their skill level, physical tools, upside, and how they’d fit with the New York Knicks?
