Some might argue that Aaron Holiday deserves to be here, and I’m not necessarily one to disagree with offering praise for the UCLA star. In saying that, Shake Milton has a unique combination of size and shooting ability, as well as the ability to provide quality contributions as a distributor.
A coaching staff must be willing to let Milton play through his inconsistencies, but if they are, he could prove to be one of the best players to emerge from this class.
Standing at just under 6’6″ with a 207-pound frame and a near 7’1″ wingspan, Milton is a Goliath for the point guard position. Some believe he’s more of a combo guard, but he can lead an offense if complemented by another competent playmaker.
With Frank Ntilikina, Milton would have a chance to form the type of backcourt that opposing teams would learn to fear and loathe.
Milton and Ntilikina both have elite size and length for the backcourt positions—whether point guard or shooting guard. While Ntilikina is working to become a better penetrator, Milton is already an elite shooter who can be trusted to adjust to the NBA line.
In 87 collegiate games, Milton made 190 three-point field goals on 42.7 percent shooting from beyond the arc—a clear sign that he’d fit the deprived New York Knicks.
