The athletic Lonnie Walker IV could wind up being a steal for the New York Knicks as his draft stock continues to rise.

There are certain things we know about the world and certain things Lonnie Walker IV knows about the world. For instance, we know that the Earth is round (sorry, Kyrie). We also know how many people live here and a general sense of the resources people have at their disposal.

Walker doesn’t dispute any of that. His uncertainty comes in to play at the very existence of Earth itself.

“The Earth is not flat, in my opinion,” Walker recently told ESPN. “But the Earth, on my conspiracy, the Earth is definitely an illusion. That’s my conspiracy.”

It’s going to take a lifetime to ponder that brain-bending philosophy. But it’ll take a lot less time for Walker to realize his NBA potential.

The former Miami Hurricanes shooting guard has been soaring up draft boards as of late. He’s young, but has shown a ton of potential as an athlete, defender, and three-point shooter. Walker could instantly become a 3-and-D player in the NBA, with the ceiling of an All-Star.

No wonder he’s been on the rise since the 2018 NBA Draft Combine.

The New York Knicks aren’t the only team that’s expressed an interest in Walker. Bryan Kalbrosky of HoopsHype reports that at least four other lottery teams have met with Walker so far, with almost a month to go before the draft.

When news first broke about New York’s interest in Walker, the heat was only just rising on the young shooting guard. He put up gaudy numbers in the max vertical leap (40″) and the Three Quarter Sprint (3.06 seconds), revealing just how explosive he can be.

In the Knicks’ rebuild, Walker represents the perfect blend of a modern NBA starter and the potential for so much more.

Bleacher Report’s latest mock draft has the Knicks selecting Collin Sexton, while Walker slips to No. 18.

But for the New York Knicks, Lonnie Walker IV might be worth reaching for, as he attempts to reach his NBA dreams—the only thing that isn’t an illusion right now.
