Michael Porter Jr. Would Be A Dream Pick

The odds of Michael Porter Jr. falling to No. 9 overall are admittedly slim, but it’s a realistic possibility. A back injury kept Porter out for the entire 2017-18 season, and that could result in teams shying away from him.

For the New York Knicks, however, Porter would be a dream pick—and his measurements at the 2018 NBA Draft Combine are only part of the reason why.

Porter posted combine measurements of 6’9.5″ without shoes and 6’10.75″ in shoes. He weighed in at 211 pounds, posted an impressive 9’0.5″ standing reach, and was recorded at 7’0.25″ in wingspan—all perfect measurements for a small forward.

Those anthropometrics also favor Porter’s positional versatility, as he could slide in as a 4 alongside Kristaps Porzingis—a truth supported by his borderline elite rebounding ability.

These measurements eliminate the skepticism in some regards, as teams can no longer question his physical gifts. The focus now shifts to his skill set, which works heavily in his favor as a crafty playmaker who can handle the ball, shoot, and finish in traffic.

Porter was the No. 1 recruit in the country for a reason, and his measurements at the Combine should go a long way towards proving his legitimacy.
