The New York Knicks were one of several teams that sent an executive to the 2018 Pro Basketball Combine. Find out which prospects were at the event.

The New York Knicks are one of the best franchises in the NBA at finding diamonds in the rough. John Starks went from bagging groceries to starting for the Knicks, and the likes of Trey Burke, Langston Galloway, and Jeremy Lin are G League success stories.

As the Knicks attempt to solidify the roster and provide head coach David Fizdale with the talent to turn the franchise around, they’re continuing to turn over every stone.

New York recently conducted a series of interviews at the 2018 NBA Draft Combine. That was just the beginning of the process, however, as the front office is evaluating every possible option in pursuit of new franchise cornerstones.

According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York, the Knicks had an executive at the 2018 Pro Basketball Combine—an example featuring prospects who didn’t participate in the NBA Draft Combine.

The Knicks have a proven ability to find diamonds in the rough, which makes their attendance at this event one worth watching.

Some of the prospects who are worth knowing are Deng Adel, Egor Koulechov, Daxter Miles Jr., Jae’Sean Tate, LaGerald Vick, and Johnathan Williams. Williams is a long and wiry big with the ability to attack a set defense and above-average vision as a passer.

Adel is an athletic forward with positional versatility and a defensive pedigree, with Tate fitting the same bill with the added benefit of being an excellent passer.

Koulechov, Miles, and Vick are all guards with intriguing 3-and-D potential, which could prove to be an attractive truth for a team in need.

There’s no telling if New York will actually commit to drafting one of the prospects at the Pro Basketball Combine. What their presence displays, however, is a relentless pursuit of talent from every angle of the sport.

The Knicks’ history with diamonds in the rough certainly displays that this low-profile event could produce intriguing talent after all.
