The New York Knicks have switched up their 2018 NBA Draft representative for the most of the lotteries they have been apart of. Who should be next?

As you’ve likely heard, the New York Knicks received the No. 9 overall selection in the 2018 NBA Draft. Many were disappointed that the Knicks couldn’t get a switched envelope this year.

Representing the Knicks on Tuesday, May 15 was general manager Scott Perry, who was the right pick to send. This is his coming out party as the face of the Knicks reform.

These are the five people I would want to see up there representing New York.

Charles Oakley

Charles Oakley is the first overall pick for this. Oakley was the scariest player to ever play for the Knicks, and one of the hardest working athletes to play in New York. Him standing up there would intimidate Adam Silver into moving the Knicks up to at least the No. 4 pick.

After getting tossed out of Madison Square Garden in February of 2017, and receiving a ban from the arena, it would be great way to welcome him back into the Knicks family with an easy to give honor.

Walt Frazier

My admiration for Walt Frazier is well documented. He’s the voice of the Knicks and doesn’t get much love outside of New York for how good of an announcer he is .

There are two huge benefits of having Frazier up on stage to represent the team.

  1. The suit he would wear would be amazing. It makes me smile to think about the absurd three-piece suit. The “Frazier-isms” that would come out of Frazier’s mouth if the Knicks were to move up would be a storied moment.

Allan Houston

Allan Houston has catapulted himself up the corporate ladder for the Knicks, now holding the position of assistant general manager. He’s the current general manager of the Westchester Knicks.

Houston would be an excellent pick because the team loves him, and it could be a nice way to say, “We know you’re waiting for your shot, we appreciate you.”

The honor of representing your team is a potential tool used by each team to keep players or front office staff happy.

Houston is most likely going to leave New York to be a general manager for another franchise. A nice gesture like this might keep him around longer.

David Fizdale

Honestly, it was a massive surprise that this guy wasn’t out there representing his new team. But, as we know, Fizdale is planning a trip to Latvia to meet with franchise player Kristaps Porzingis.

Fizdale would’ve been another easy and excellent choice for the Knicks. Let’s say the Knicks did move up; we could’ve saw another incredible viral moment

Fizdale has more important business to take care of on the other side of the planet, but it would’ve been nice to see his one of his first national outings as the Knicks’ head coach during the lottery.

Eddy Curry

I would’ve loved to see Eddy Curry go up there and represent the Knicks. I know this is a hot take, but the Knicks are going through a massive rebuild now.

The egregious trade that the Knicks made to get Eddy Curry set the franchise back for nearly a decade. Now, the Knicks are starting over, picking up the pieces from the trade.

Curry’s presence would symbolize how the New York Knicks are moving on from the moves that defined the organization for too long.
