With a point guard of the future selected at No. 12 overall, the Los Angeles Clippers turn their attention to the interior. With DeAndre Jordan preparing to enter free agency, the Clippers could have a void to fill as soon as July 1.

Thus, with the No. 13 overall selection in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Clippers select Texas A&M Aggies center Robert Williams to be their new man in the middle.

Williams, like Jordan, is an athletic center with a monster wingspan and tremendous value on the defensive end of the floor. He’s further along in his development than Jordan was at this stage of his career, which bodes well for the Clippers.

Williams ranked in the top 25 in the country in block percentage in both of his seasons at Texas A&M, and improved to No. 26 in defensive rebound percentage in 2017-18.

What makes Williams such an intriguing prospect is that he’s displayed the foundation for a high-level offensive game. He excels from midrange and has displayed a desire to expand his range to beyond the arc when the time comes to do so.

When all else fails, Williams is an explosive athlete who can defend the perimeter and protect the paint with his near 7’6″ wingspan.

Knicks Notes: A number of New York Knicks fans have suggested Williams as the center to play alongside Kristaps Porzingis. The more homework I do, the more I warm up to it.
