Knicks Rumors: Pros and cons of hiring Mike Budenholzer
The New York Knicks will reportedly interview Mike Budenholzer. What would the pros and cons be of actually signing Budenholzer?
The New York Knicks have made contact with virtually every name imaginable in the pursuit of a new head coach. From European legends and G League standouts to former Knicks players and television analysts, the front office is doing its due diligence.
That path towards stability has taken New York to Atlanta, where the Knicks have located another candidate for the job: Hawks head coach Mike Budenholzer.
Budenholzer was granted permission by the Atlanta Hawks to meet with the Phoenix Suns about their vacancy at head coach. After talks fell through, however, Budenholzer returned to the open market despite holding a position already.
According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York, the Knicks will interview Budenholzer for the current vacancy at head coach on Sunday, April 22.
Of all the candidates whom the Knicks are scheduled to meet with, one could make a case that Budenholzer is the most intriguing of all.
Budenholzer, 48, has made quite a name for himself during his extensive NBA career. He checks a number of boxes for the Knicks, but he also presents areas of concern as far as the Knicks’ search for a new head coach is concerned.
The question is: What would the pros and cons be of the New York Knicks potentially hiring Mike Budenholzer as the next head coach?
