Knicks Rumors: Pros and cons of hiring David Fizdale
The New York Knicks will interview David Fizdale for the vacancy at head coach. What would the pros and cons be of hiring Fizdale?
The New York Knicks are in the midst of a coaching search that appears to be focused on individuals with NBA experience. It’s an understandable approach for a franchise that’s spent the past five seasons on the outside looking in of the Playoffs.
As the Knicks survey the coaching carousel and search for their next great sideline general, one name has inevitably surfaced: David Fizdale.
Fizdale was one of the most respected assistant coaches in the NBA before taking over the lead role for the Memphis Grizzlies in 2016. Now back on the open market, it appears as though Fizdale will be back on the sidelines at some point in the near future.
According to Stefan Bondy of The New York Daily News, Fizdale is scheduled to interview for the Knicks’ head coaching job.
"David Fizdale, considered by some as a leading candidate for the Knicks, is scheduled to interview next week for their vacant coaching position. The 43-year-old revealed that news to reporters in Oakland on Friday while visiting a buddy, Steve Kerr, at a Warriors practice."
Fizdale is also in the running for the Phoenix Suns job, which he reportedly interviewed for earlier this week.
Only time will tell if Fizdale is offered the head coach positions in New York or Phoenix. What’s clear, however, is that he’s on the radar for multiple franchises that desperately need to fill the void on the sidelines with a dependable leader.
The question is: What would the pros and cons be of the New York Knicks potentially hiring David Fizdale as head coach?
