The New York Knicks are reportedly interested in hiring David Blatt as the next head coach. What are the pros and cons of that potential decision?

The New York Knicks are searching far and wide for the next head coach—quite literally. In addition to interviewing a number of current and former NBA head coaches, the Knicks have turned their attention to Europe and the G League.

One of the most decorated individuals on the list of interviewed candidates is European legend and former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach David Blatt.

Blatt is one of the most accomplished coaches in the history of the European basketball circuit. He also has NBA experience, which checks a box for what the Knicks are looking for in the next—and, ideally, last for quite some time—hire at head coach.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Knicks have scheduled an interview with Blatt about the vacancy at head coach.

That far from guarantees that the Knicks will hire Blatt, but it’s certainly an option that the organization should consider.

Blatt has an existing relationship with two of the Knicks’ highest-ranking officials: Steve Mills and Craig Robinson. That should work in his favor, but he’s far more than just a coach who has the right connections in the organization.

The question is: What are the pros and cons that David Blatt presents as a candidate for the New York Knicks’ vacancy at head coach?
