The New York Knicks will reportedly interview Mark Jackson for the vacant head coach position. What would the pros and cons be of hiring the former Knick?

If you poll New York Knicks fans about Mark Jackson, they’ll fall on opposite ends of the spectrum. Either fans want Jackson to be the next head coach of the Knicks or they want nothing to do with him in that role—and there’s no in between.

As the Knicks near a decision about the future of the organization, however, one can’t help but wonder what would transpire if Jackson were hired.

Jackson is a polarizing candidate, but he’s an individual who’s garnering significant interest. He’s been reported by multiple outlets as a leading option for the position, which has caused many to believe there’s fire to cause the smoke.

It’s unclear whether or not Jackson will actually be offered the position, but Adrian Wojnarowski and Ian Begley of ESPN reported that he’s scheduled an interview.

"The Knicks plan to meet with Fizdale, Jackson and Stackhouse this week, and with Blatt, who is expected to travel to the United States, the following week."

In other words: There’s at least some form of interest.

For as compelling as Jackson is to some, he’s a repulsive candidate to others. Those are extreme words, but it’s the nature of the business of hiring an individual who will be the Knicks’ third full-time head coach since 2015.

The question is: What would the pros and cons be of the New York Knicks going through with hiring Mark Jackson as head coach?
