The New York Knicks will reportedly interview Jerry Stackhouse for the vacant head coach position. What would the pros and cons be of hiring Stackhouse?

The New York Knicks have lined up interviews with a number of compelling options to fill the vacant head coach position. That list features David Blatt, David Fizdale, Mark Jackson, Jerry Stackhouse, and Mike Woodson, as well as NBA on TNT analyst Kenny Smith.

While every one of those candidates has their own redeeming qualities, it’s Stackhouse who appears to be the most intriguing option of all.

New York is preparing to hire its third full-time head coach of the Kristaps Porzingis era. That’s a concerning truth considering Porzingis was drafted in 2015, meaning he will be playing for three full-time head coaches in his first four seasons.

If the Knicks’ goal is to sabotage Porzingis’ future and endanger his development, then the current process is certainly a great way of doing so.

Thankfully, there’s a candidate worth considering who could stop the carousel on its axis: Stackhouse. He’s a young coach with a world of potential, albeit while possessing some measure of flaws that may be worth discussing.

The question is: What would the pros and cons be if the New York Knicks were to hire Raptors 905 head coach Jerry Stackhouse to the same position?
