Chris Fleming

Chris Fleming is another coach in the long line of European standouts turned NBA prospects. Following in the footsteps of David Blatt and Ettore Messina, Fleming has made the transition to the Association after a fruitful career overseas.

After dominating the German League with Brose Bamberg, Fleming has turned his attention to securing a head coaching gig in the NBA—a legitimate possibility.

As a head coach, Fleming led Brose to four German League championships, four German Cup titles, and three German Supercup crowns—all within a four-year period. He made the transition to the NBA in 2015, securing an assistant coach position with the Denver Nuggets.

Fleming went on to accept an assistant coach role with the Brooklyn Nets in 2016, which gives him some degree of familiarity with the challenges of coaching in New York.

Fleming led the German national team to the quarterfinals of the 2017 European Championships, but he’s since turned his full attention to the NBA. He’s an offensive strategist who values off-ball motion, the three-point shot, and different angles for the pick and roll.

If the New Jersey native can prove to Scott Perry and Steve Mills that he can also design a strong defense—and he can—then he could be an ideal option for the Knicks.
