Jeff Green never realized his star potential, but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be of aid to the New York Knicks. He’s a quality two-way player who previously proved to be willing to take a contract with an up-and-coming team, albeit before he played for a contender.

Simply put: The Knicks have a desperate need for an athletic big who can alleviate pressure from Kristaps Porzingis, and Green could certainly fill that role.

Green is an athletic power forward who can do a bit of everything on both ends of the floor. He may not be the All-Star that some projected him to be, but he’s established himself as a high-quality defensive player and a versatile scoring threat.

Green posted a positive Real Plus-Minus on both offense and defense in 2017-18, which is a fair indication of what he’s become: A beneficial contributor.

Cleveland finished the 2017-18 regular season with defensive ratings of 105.4 with Green on the court and 113.2 without him—a difference of 7.8 points per 100 possessions. Offensively, he averaged 16.7 points, 1.9 assists, and 1.0 three-point field goal made per 36 minutes.

A capable ball-handler and distributor, as well as a versatile defender and an at least respectable catch and shoot contributor, Green could be of great aid to the Knicks.
