The New York Knicks may not be playing in the 2018 NBA Playoffs, but there are a number of pending free agents worth knowing and evaluating.

Watching the NBA Playoffs from home can’t exactly be spun as a positive, and I won’t try to do so. There is an opportunity to evaluate high-level talent that could be of value to the New York Knicks in future seasons, however, and that shouldn’t be overlooked.

While the stars who are soon to hit free agency will be priced out of the Knicks’ range and capabilities, there are certainly players worth considering.

New York has a core in place with point guard Frank Ntilikina, shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr., and power forward Kristaps Porzingis. There’s depth beyond them, including the likes of Trey Burke, Damyean Dotson, and Emmanuel Mudiay.

With the two featured centers heading to free agency and an additional void to fill at small forward, however, the Knicks can’t become complacent.

Thankfully, the playoffs tend to expose the weak-minded and bring out the best of the diamonds in the rough. That should provide a welcome opportunity to scout and evaluate the players who could help complete the current vision.

The question is: Which pending free agents should the New York Knicks be watching during the 2018 NBA Playoffs and how might they fit at The Mecca?
