The Chicago Bulls found an absolute steal of a selection at No. 8 overall with Villanova Wildcats star Mikal Bridges. It was a critical move for an organization that desperately needs to solidify its perimeter with a defensive-minded player.

While some might view this as a reach, the Bulls can address the second void on the roster by selecting a center with significant untapped potential: Brandon McCoy.

McCoy’s appeal at the NBA level is clear by simply watching him walk on to the court. He’s a massive individual with a powerful frame, plus athleticism, and adequate length to at least become a quality rim protector in the NBA.

Standing at just under 7’0″ with a near 7’2″ wingspan and a well-built 250-pound frame, McCoy has the tools to dominate a game down low.

In terms of his present-day abilities, McCoy isn’t ready to be the player that he’s capable of becoming. His ceiling is that of a low-post terror, however, as well as a dominant rebounder and an above-average shot-blocker who can even step out for the occasional jump shot.

There have been flashes of brilliance, but if the Bulls can help McCoy put it all together, he can become one of the better centers in the NBA.
